Experiences South Australians can still book this long weekend

29 September, 2023

RAA Travel reveals a shift in regional visits as the weather warms up, with visits to the Adelaide Hills growing by up to 40 per cent compared to winter months.

A similar trend applies to the Clare and Barossa Valleys, growing by a third as more South Australians choose to enjoy outdoor food and wine experiences.

RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said there are still a range of experiences available this long weekend, particularly for those wanting to explore new and unique activities.

“With our stunning peninsulas, beaches, vineyards, hills and charming country towns, there is just so much to explore across the state,” Ms Norman said.

“Starting with the Adelaide Hills, a Taste of Hahndorf gourmet food and wine e-bike tour with Bike About is a great way to see the gorgeous Hills landscapes while you’re travelling between locations.”

“For thrill-seekers, enjoy a rock climbing and abseiling experience with Earth Adventure at Morialta Conservation Park.

“If you’d rather take it easy, you can choose a beautiful farm tour at Jurlique Farm or by taking a visit to Cleland Wildlife Park.

“For those heading down the south coast, there’s a fabulous walking tour of Victor Harbor for only $14 where you can experience local maritime history with all the great stories about whaling and old shipwrecks.

“A beautiful picnic board at Saint Hallett in the Barossa Valley may be just what you need if you’re after some R&R, to enjoy amazing wine and local produce.”

There are also options for South Australians wanting to stay close to the Adelaide CBD.

“BBQ Buoys is a cruise along the River Torrens where you can grill your own lunch while looking at the beautiful waterways,” Ms Norman said.

“It is not too late to book some of these experiences for the long weekend, by booking direct or with RAA Travel.”

“Booking through RAA Travel can help you save on ticket prices, especially for members who will receive a member saving also.”
