RAA Travel is reminding South Australians to book their last-minute getaways for the school holidays – as 54 per cent of travellers plan their next holiday with family.
RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said there are still some incredible holiday opportunities available locally, interstate and internationally.
“With cost-of-living pressures, more and more families are opting for a stay closer to home,” Ms Norman said.
“Many families are realising there is so much to explore within South Australia like the peninsulas and Limestone Coast, where families can get back to the simple pleasures with activities such as beach cricket, sandcastles and barbecues.
“For families craving something entirely different, we’re seeing some amazing new holiday trends emerging.
“Hay-cations – a regional stay with experiences including feeding farm animals and picking fresh produce, are especially popular for young families, serving as an immersive educational experience.
“We’re also seeing many bookings roll in for cruises, including for new cruise ships to Australia including the Carnival Luminosa for the Carnival Cruise Line fleet and Disney Cruises.
“Don’t forget holiday parks across Australia are another great option – with some parks offering experiences like a first-class resort.
“Then of course there are international trips, which is an invaluable experience particularly for the youngest in the family to learn from local cultures through food and languages, sports and crafts.”
School holidays can be one of the busiest times of the year to travel, consequently driving prices higher for travel during the two-week period.
“As always, the best cost-saving tip is making sure you book early – where you will find flights and accommodation at a much cheaper price,” Ms Norman said.
“We recommend planning well ahead, making your bookings ideally 9 -12 months in advance.”
“If flying to your destination, arrive at the airport early to avoid lines and if your flight is early, consider staying nearby the airport to avoid waking children up in the middle of the night.”
