Results in for RAA Board election

25 October, 2023

RAA members have had their say and re-appointed Ms Sharon Starick and Dr Stephen Holmes for another three-year term on the RAA Board.

This year, five candidates nominated to fill the two vacancies on the RAA Board with all eligible RAA members having the opportunity to vote in the election between 9 August and 13 October.

The result of the election will see both Ms Starick and Dr Holmes re-appointed for a three-year term starting on the date of the Annual General meeting (AGM) on 27 November 2023 – where the results will be officially declared.

President and Chair of the Board Peter Siebels thanked the thousands of RAA members who voted in the Board election.

“As South Australia’s largest membership-based organisation, we exist to serve our members and always encourage them to have their say on the organisation’s leadership and governance,” Mr Siebels said.

“This year we saw an increase in the number of members who took part in the Board election process compared to last year, and we welcome their decision to re-elect Sharon and Stephen to the Board.

“The RAA Board election is such an important part of our governance process and our organisation’s future success and it’s encouraging to see thousands of members participate.”

Mr Siebels also thanked Lance Bagster, Corinne Garrett and Penelope Gale for nominating for this year’s Board election.

“I’d like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the other nominees for their interest in representing our members on the board.”

In addition to the Board election, eligible members can still vote on a special resolution to amend the RAA Constitution.

The amendments seek to permit the RAA Nominations Committee to develop and recommend guidelines concerning the suitability of persons to serve as Directors of RAA for the approval of the RAA Board.

If the amendments are adopted, the guidelines will be used by RAA’s Nominations Committee to determine if a person is suitable for election or appointment as an RAA Director for future RAA Board elections.

Direct voting and voting by proxy on the Special Resolution close at 5pm on Tuesday, 21 November 2023.
