RAA to adorn Adelaide’s most recognisable building—91 King William St

22 December, 2022

One of the State’s most recognisable brands will soon sit atop Adelaide’s most iconic CBD building, with RAA securing two floors at 91 King William Street to accommodate its growing workforce.

As part of the deal with the owners of 91 King William Street, ICAM and Abacus Property Group, RAA will relocate approximately 200 of its 1200-strong team to the CBD building.

RAA CEO Nick Reade said the once-in-18-year opportunity represented a win-win for the State’s largest membership organisation.

“Having RAA’s name prominently displayed on the Adelaide skyline cements our commitment to all South Australians who trust us to keep them safe and moving,” Mr Reade said.

“This is the most iconic building in Adelaide, with arguably the most prominent signage opportunity in the State.

“RAA is also a South Australian icon—as the largest membership-based organisation in the state that is fast approaching 800,000 members—so it makes sense that we have a presence in the heart of the city.”

Mr Reade said 91 King William was one of several opportunities RAA had been exploring to meet the needs of its burgeoning Mile End-based workforce.

“As our membership continues to increase, so does our team which now exceeds 1,200 people and we’re simply outgrowing our Mile End office,” Mr Reade said.

“RAA’s investment in our next growth areas, such as home and energy, has also driven employee growth across our 120-year-old organisation.

“This growth, coupled with the anticipated and now-known impacts of the Torrens to Darlington project, mean we have been exploring options to meet the future needs of our business and expand our office footprint.

“Having a presence in the city will allow us to build stronger relationships with other city-based stakeholders so we can better advocate for our members.

“There has never been a better time to be part of RAA—either as a member or an employee—and we’re excited about the future.”

The 91 King William Street lease is expected to be effective from mid-2023 with signage subject to the usual authority approvals.

ICAM Managing Director, Freddy Bartlett said they were thrilled to see the merging of two South Australian icons in 91 King William and RAA.

“91KW has always been a sought-after office location, complemented by a professional concierge service and the new Vault 91 bar on the ground floor,” Mr Bartlett said.

“RAA is an iconic South Australian brand and their values and vision for the future, particularly around sustainability, align perfectly with ICAM and our partner’s vision.”
