International Women’s Day – RAA achieves gender parity in leadership

8 March, 2023

RAA is marking International Women’s Day 2023 by highlighting its commitment to inclusion, diversity and belonging – a commitment that sees 50 per cent of leadership roles at RAA now held by women.

South Australia’s largest member organisation seeks to achieve a workforce that reflects the community it serves, and achieving gender parity in its leadership positions is one way it is doing just that.

RAA CEO Nick Reade, who is a member of SA Leaders for Gender Equity, said RAA was proud to be a leader in employing a diverse workforce.

“As such a recognisable South Australian organisation, we believe we have a responsibility to set a strong example when it comes to inclusion and diversity in our 1,200-strong workforce.

“Over the past several years we have introduced initiatives with the aim of reaching the agreed gender target of 45-55%.

“These have included gender representation for leadership roles on longlists and shortlists, as well as gender pay gap reviews and a gender-neutral parental leave policy.

Emily Perry (General Manager Community and Corporate Affairs) and Dorothy Nycz (General Manager Automotive Services and Strategic Projects) – two members of RAA’s executive team.

“Another key enabler to help us achieve this target has been our approach to flexible working, ensuring all our employees feel supported to work in a way that allows them to also be there for their families.

“It is fantastic to see now half of our leadership positions are held by women.”

RAA has also recently sought feedback from staff on its Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging Program in its annual employee engagement survey and focus groups, and looks forward to developing the program based on the feedback provided.

Elsewhere, RAA also sponsors Making Her Mark, a program that encourages and inspires women and non-binary people into non-traditional roles and careers. Making Her Mark aims to open up industries typically thought of as male-dominated to more women through inspirational and educational resources.

“RAA is one of the state’s leading employers, and we’re proud to be leading the way in inclusion, diversity and equity in South Australia.”
